"I blew it on my diet. Now what do I do?"

This is something we hear frequently around the holidays. But these words are not exclusive to any specific holiday. You may have felt this way after a family gathering, a party with friends, or even a dinner out at a restaurant.

Here's the good news though... you didn't "blow" anything!

"Well, Isabel, you didn't see what I ate."

Sure, I don't know the exact details of your situation, but I can confidently tell you that you didn't "blow" anything or mess anything up, because...

There is no "diet" to mess up here.

When we hear the word "diet," we often think of a very rigid form of eating that requires a lot of limitations and sacrifices and does not allow for any flexibility. That may have been the way you have tried to lose weight in the past... rigid limitations with no flexibility.

But how well does that really work for us in the long term? Not well at all. And I know firsthand, not just because that never worked for me, but because it also never worked for my mom, or for the thousands of people I have had the pleasure of helping over the past 20 years.

So, what does work instead?

If diets are not the way to lose weight, then what can you do to successfully lose weight and be healthy for the long term?

What does work is a new approach to a healthy life and a new perspective on fueling your body in a way that is glorifying to our Lord.

So today, I want you to know that it is impossible for you to "blow" anything here. Maybe you had a bit more food than you planned, maybe your choices were not the very best, and maybe you even fell prey to your past addictions.

Fine, what happened, happened, and today is a new day the Lord has made. And we have the opportunity to leave the past in the past and continue moving forward with our newfound healthy habits.

Need a little more encouragement? This video is a good one to watch any time you feel like you "blew" it.
